Sinse-dong, which used to be an ordinary hillside village near Andong Station, regained its vitality starting with the Maeulmisul Art Project. Murals by the art team of Andongdaehakgyo began to be painted on the old alleyways, and later urban regeneration activists and young artists led the change by cultivating the village together with the residents. In particular, the large mural of a 'Black Woman in Hanbok' painted by world-renowned graffiti artist Sim Chan-yang in 2019 gathered great attention and raised the village's recognition.
Interesting stories were added, such as a store run by a grandmother being transformed into a craft experience space, and a book cafe being built at the highest point of the village. Visitors come here to take 'photos of a lifetime' with backgrounds ranging from the 'Lucky Grandma' family mural on the wall of Dongbu Elementary School to the cute paintings and sculptures throughout the alleys.
