Andong Beopheungsa-ji Seven-story Brick Pagoda is the largest and oldest brick pagoda in Korea, remaining on the site of Beopheungsa Temple, which was founded during the Unified Silla period. It is a massive 7-story pagoda built with clay bricks, standing at a height of 17 meters while boasting a stable posture. The base features granite carvings of the Eight Guardian Deities and the Four Heavenly Kings, and traces of roof tiles on the roof stones show a unique architectural style that imitates wooden pagodas.
It once suffered the ordeal of tilting due to the vibration of the railway, but has recovered its intact appearance after the railway was relocated. Currently, it blends with the head house of the Goseong Lee clan to present a tranquil scenery, drawing a continuous stream of travelers who want to feel its long history and architectural beauty.
