Andong Gu Market is the oldest traditional market in Andong, continuing the legacy of 'Andongjang' from the Joseon era. Historically known as a town of yangban (nobility), the market naturally developed due to the high demand for ancestral rite supplies, and even now, a five-day market is held alongside the permanent market. It is famous for 'Andongjjimdakgolmok', a collection of about 30 restaurants where you can taste the original Andong jjimdak born in the 1980s.
Another representative specialty is 'Andong salted mackerel', which originated from salting and transporting mackerel from Yeongdeok due to the region's inland characteristics. Growing into a complex cultural space where tradition and modernity coexist, it provides various events and attractions, and even features a traditional wedding photo zone. It is the vibrant center of Andong, encompassing the nearby Namseo Shopping Street and Jungang Culture Street.
