Rising at the foot of Yudalsan Mountain in Mokpo, Nojeokbong Peak is a 60m-high rocky peak and a historical site imbued with the wisdom of Admiral Yi Sun-sin during the Imjin War. It is told that the Admiral covered this peak with rice straw to disguise it as a mountain of military provisions, and dissolved white clay in the upper reaches of the Yeongsan River to make it look like rice-washing water, causing the Japanese to mistakenly believe that our forces had a large number of troops and retreat on their own. During the Japanese colonial period, the Japanese sometimes called it "Noinbong Peak" in an attempt to distort the historicity of Nojeokbong Peak.
In front of the peak is Noinam, shaped like an old man guarding a stack of rice sheaves, and a "Great Stone Face" that looks like Admiral Yi Sun-sin giving a command can also be found, providing interesting sights for visitors. It is a place where you can feel both the spirit of defending the country and the beauty of nature at the same time.
