Dalseongsa Temple, located on Yudalsan Mountain in Mokpo, is a tranquil temple founded in 1913. It is especially famous for the 'Wooden Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Triad and Ten Kings of Hell of Dalseongsa Temple in Mokpo', which is designated as a Treasure. Created in 1565, this group of Buddhist statues is the only work from before the Imjin War where both the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva statue and the Ten Kings of Hell statues have been handed down together.
The Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva statue takes a rare half-seated posture, giving it very high rarity and sculptural value. Within the temple, there is a mysterious Okjeong spring that is said to never dry up even in droughts, and an interesting anecdote is handed down that it saved a child. The ringing of the bell at Dalseongsa Temple at sunset is counted as one of the Mokpopalgyeong (Eight Scenic Views of Mokpo), known as 'Dalsamojong'.
The beautiful scenery offering a panoramic view of downtown Mokpo, along with precious cultural heritage and folktales, attracts visitors' footsteps.
