The Pak Kyongni Memorial Hall was built in 2010 in her hometown of Tongyeong to honor Pak Kyongni, the author of the epic novel Toji, and to shed light on her literary world. This is a space to deeply understand the author's literary world and to highlight the city of Tongyeong that inspired her. You can catch a glimpse of the author's life, who immersed herself in creation while experiencing the pain of the Han-gukjeonjaeng and personal tragedy, as well as the writing process of Toji.
The building, designed by architect Ryu Choon-soo, borrows the 'Nuha Jin-ip' (entering under the pavilion) method of Buddhist temples, encouraging visitors to leave the noise of the world behind and calmly enter the literary world. You can follow her footsteps by looking around the space that recreates her handwritten manuscripts, relics, and her study in Wonju, and the statue in the yard and the tomb on the hill overlooking the sea are important spots honoring the author's spirit.
