Located in the beautiful port city of Sokcho on the east coast, Dongmyeong Port means 'the port where the sun dawns from the east'. It is a lively port where you can see various ships, from small fishing boats to coast guard vessels and cruise ships, and holds historical significance as the departure point for the Mt. Geumgang cruise ships in the past.
Although it suffered the pain of Yeonggeumjeong's nature being damaged due to port construction during the Japanese colonial period, it is now loved as an attraction where you can enjoy fresh seafood and the beautiful scenery of the East Sea. In particular, the red lighthouse at the end of the breakwater offers a picturesque panoramic view blending downtown Sokcho, Mt. Seoraksan, and the blue East Sea, and is also a popular spot for anglers.
The live fish center where you can taste seasonal sashimi and the squid street market offer another charm of Dongmyeong Port.
