Located in downtown Sokcho, Cheongchoho Lake is a representative lagoon of Sokcho along with Yeongnangho Lake. In the past, it was a nameless lake, but it was also called 'Ssangseongho Lake' along with the legend that a Cheongnyong lived there. During the Joseon period, the Manhoyeong Garrison was established, making it a military stronghold, and it boasted beautiful scenery to the extent that the Silhak scholar Yi Chung-hwan selected it as one of the Gwandongpalgyeong.
Through port development during the Japanese colonial period and the hosting of the Gangwon International Travel Expo, it transformed into a modern tourist destination, and the Expo Tower became a landmark of Sokcho. Around the lake, Cheongchoho Lake Park, Cheongchojeong Pavilion, and the Migratory Bird Sanctuary Observation Deck have been created, making it a good place to enjoy walks and bird watching, and you can appreciate the panoramic view of the lake from on top of Seorak Bridge and Geumgang Bridge. Blending nature and history in the city center, Cheongchoho Lake offers diverse charms to visitors throughout the four seasons.
