As the center of Gwangju's representative MICE industry, Kimdaejung Convention Center is a complex cultural space where various events such as international conferences, exhibitions, and K-POP concerts are held year-round. It was originally planned as the 'Gwangju Exhibition Convention Center', but ahead of its opening, it was changed to its current name in accordance with public opinion to utilize the international recognition of former President Kim Dae-jung, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Former President Kim Dae-jung and his wife personally attended the opening ceremony, adding meaning to the event.
It features an elegant curved design that embodies the ridges of Mudeungsan Mountain, the symbol of Gwangju, and in the 'Kim Dae-jung Hall' prepared on one side of the exhibition hall, visitors can find materials related to his life, achievements, and the Nobel Peace Prize, providing a special experience for visitors.
