Yeosu Musulmok Beach is a historical battleground where Admiral Yi Sun-sin heavily defeated the Japanese forces during the Jeongyujaeran. There are interesting stories behind its name, such as the theory that it was named after the victory in the year of Musul, or that it was originally called 'Scary Neck' because it was stained with the blood of Japanese soldiers and later changed. The round mongdol (pebble) beach stretching for about 700m offers a unique experience with the refreshing sound of pebbles rolling whenever the waves crash.
Along the pine forest path built by the beach, you can take a walk while appreciating the ocean view and sculptures, and also find the Chungmugongjeonjeokbi Stele commemorating Admiral Yi Sun-sin's victory. It is especially famous as a beautiful sunrise spot, and the scenery of the pebble beach dyed red at dawn is very popular among photography enthusiasts. Right next to it is the Jeollanam-do Ocean & Fisheries Science Museum, making it a great course for family visitors.
