Yeongnangho Lake, located close to the Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal, is a lagoon that was separated from the sea by accumulating sand after seawater flowed in. A story is passed down that the Silla Hwarang Yeongnang stayed here, captivated by its beautiful scenery, and the name of the lake is also derived from Yeongnang. The 8km walking trail around the lake offers beautiful landscapes throughout all four seasons, especially blooming with cherry blossoms in spring and tinted with autumn leaves in fall.
From Beombawi Rock, one of the Eight Sights of Sokcho, and the restored Yeongnangjeong Pavilion above it, you can take in the spectacular views of the lake and Seoraksan at a glance. This place, which forms a unique ecosystem with a mix of fresh and sea water, is a breeding ground for migratory birds and a living natural history museum. You can enjoy Yeongnangho Lake in various ways, such as bicycle tours or Hwarangdo experiences.
