Geoje Haegeumgang is a scenic spot boasting such outstanding hidden beauty that it is called the 'Geumgangsan Mountain of the Sea'. Its original name was Galdo Island because its shape resembles an arrowroot, but it is now more widely known by its current name because it is beautiful enough to be compared to Haegeumgang of Geumgangsan Mountain. Here, two massive rocky islands face each other, and from the sky, it takes the shape of a cross (the Chinese character 十).
If you approach closely on a cruise ship, you can appreciate the spectacular views of mysterious, bizarre rocks and cliffs such as Sipjadonggul Grotto, Sajabawi, and Chotdaebawi. In particular, Sipjadonggul Grotto, which can only be entered on days when the waves are calm, adds to the mystery as you can see a cross-shaped sky from inside, and the sunrise rising over Sajabawi is considered the greatest spectacle. Since landing on Haegeumgang is impossible, it is common to enjoy it while listening to a commentator's explanation on a cruise ship.
