Geoje Shipbuilding & Ocean Cultural Center is a complex cultural space where you can experience both the traditional fishing village culture of Geoje and world-class shipbuilding and marine technology in one place. It started as the Eochonminsok Exhibition Hall in 2003 and took its current form when it integrated with the Joseonhaeyang Exhibition Hall in 2009. Here, you can get a glimpse into the appearance of a traditional fishing village through the life and tools of Park Young-hwan, Geoje's last wooden boat master artisan, and you can survey the history of the development of the shipbuilding industry through diverse exhibitions encompassing everything from prehistoric times to future marine technology.
In particular, the 4D video experience of exploring under the sea of Geoje riding a WIG Craft and the ship steering simulation are very popular with children, and special exhibitions to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the marine environment are continuously held, giving it high educational value.
