Nestled at the foot of Palgongsan in Daegu, Pagyesa Temple holds the feng shui meaning of preventing the earth's energy from leaking out through the surrounding nine streams, just as its name 'grabbing the water stream' suggests. In particular, it has a deep connection with the birth legend of Yeongjo of Joseon. It is said that Sukbin Choe conceived Yeongjo after Master Hyeoneung offered a prayer at the request of Sukjong of Joseon.
The royal robe of Yeongjo was discovered inside the Gwaneumbosalsang in the Hall of the Bodhisattva of Compassion, adding credibility to the legend. The temple was protected as the royal family's wishing shrine, and the treasure 'Pagyesa Yeongsanhoesangdo', produced by the royal family, well demonstrates the characteristics of Buddhist paintings from the early 18th century. Feel the tranquil atmosphere of the temple, filled with history and stories amidst beautiful natural scenery.
