Located in the center of the old downtown of Yeosu, Yi Sun-sin Square is a space that honors the historical achievements of Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who led the Imjin War to victory. Presumed to be the anchoring and repair site for warships of the Jeolla Jwasuyeong during the Joseon period, this place features a statue of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and a nearly life-sized replica Turtle Ship exhibition hall, allowing you to vividly feel the situation at that time. The interior of the Turtle Ship can be viewed for free, and you can experience models, weapons, and uniforms of the Joseon navy, as well as take photos.
On one side of the square, there is a mural depicting the life of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and the course of the Imjin War, and from the Dragon Head Observatory, you can enjoy a view of the beautiful sea scenery of Yeosu.
