Constructed in 1932 during the Japanese colonial period to connect Tongyeong and Mireukdo, this is the first undersea tunnel in the East. Built at the time for the convenience of migrating Japanese fishermen, it is a place that holds the painful history of our people and was designated as National Registered Cultural Heritage No. 201 in 2005.
It is a 483m long concrete structure where you can experience something special by walking 10m below the sea. The inscription 'Yongmundaryang' engraved at the tunnel entrance testifies to the history of invasion, and at night, the gentle lighting creates a dreamy atmosphere, making it a great place to enjoy a quiet and lyrical walk.
