Suwon Gwanggyo Museum was established to preserve and exhibit artifacts excavated during the development of Gwanggyo New Town. It has a unique identity as a 'historical materials museum specialized in donations', which stems from the vast donations of Min Gwan-sik, known as the 'father of Korea's modern sports', and Lee Jong-hak, a Dokdo Island researcher. Min Gwan-sik's donated items are exhibited in the 'Sogang Room', which surveys Korea's modern and sports history, while Lee Jong-hak's materials related to Dokdo Island and the history of Japanese aggression are displayed in the 'Saunsil'.
In addition, there is the 'Gwanggyo History and Culture Room' containing the history of the Gwanggyo area, and the 'Children's Experience Room' where children can experience being archaeologists, making it very popular among family visitors.
