One building here cost ten times more to construct than the other corner pavilions, earning a stern reprimand from King Jeongjo of Joseon. This is Banghwasuryujeong Pavilion. Although it served as a military lookout and command post, it was built with a unique design that also allowed the king to rest. In the end, even a ruler who emphasized frugality could not bring himself to reject the outstanding beauty of this pavilion.
