The Seoraksan Cable Car is a means of transportation that allows you to comfortably ascend to Gwongeumseong Fortress at an altitude of 700m in about 10 minutes and enjoy the hidden scenery of Seoraksan. Outside the cable car windows, the magnificent bizarre rocks of Outer Seorak, such as Ulsanbawi Rock and Manmulsang, unfold like a panorama. When you get off at the upper station, a short hiking trail leads to the old site of Gwongeumseong Fortress, where a legend tells that two strongmen, Gwonssi and Gimssi, built the fortress overnight.
From Bonghwadae at the summit, you can take in the East Sea, downtown Sokcho, and the overwhelming mountainscape of Seoraksan at a glance. Below Gwongeumseong Fortress, Allak Hermitage and the centuries-old Muhagsong Pine Tree are located, making them great to look around together.
