This is Gyeonghuigung Palace, one of the Five Grand Palaces of the late Joseon period, which was called the 'Western Palace' because it was located in the western part of the capital. It is a historical site where kings from 10 generations stayed, being used as a secondary palace along with Changdeokgung Palace after the Imjin War. It is especially famous as the place where King Yeongjo spent half of his reign.
Although it suffered the pain of most of its buildings being destroyed during the Japanese colonial period, major buildings such as Sungjeongjeon Hall have now been restored, allowing you to reflect on the history of the palace in a tranquil atmosphere. Compared to other palaces, it is quiet, making it good for taking a leisurely walk and falling into deep thought.
