The National Museum of Korean Contemporary History is the first national museum of modern and contemporary history in the country, recording and exhibiting the dynamic modern and contemporary history of the Republic of Korea from the port-opening period in 1894 through the Japanese colonial period and liberation, up to the modern era. Opened by remodeling the former Economic Planning Board building, it consists of the 5th-floor Yeoksagwan dealing with chronological history by era, the Experience Hall which is an immersive experience space, and the Thematic Hall where diverse special exhibitions are held. The 8th-floor roof garden observatory, where you can view the Gyeongbokgung and Gwanghwamun areas at a glance, is also a point not to be missed.
