This is Woljeonggyo Bridge, a beautiful wooden bridge that brings the glory of the Silla period back to life today. Built in the 19th year of King Gyeongdeok of Unified Silla (760), it played an important role connecting the royal palace, Wolseong, and Gyeongju Namsan. Having been destroyed, it was splendidly restored in 2018, and it now boasts its majesty as the bridge with the largest pavilion in South Korea.
On the second floor of the gate towers at both ends of the bridge, there is a digital exhibition hall where you can see the restoration process and excavated artifacts. In particular, after sunset when the lights are turned on, the enchanting night view reflected on the surface of Namcheon Stream creates a spectacular sight, making it one of the must-visit night view spots for a trip to Gyeongju.
