The Tower of Great Light (Hanbit Tower) is a symbolic structure of Daejeon, built to commemorate the 1993 Daejeon World Expo. It holds the profound meaning of 'a ray of light connecting the present and the future based on a wise past,' and the tower's height of 93 meters symbolizes the year the expo was held. The 1,993 granite stones at the lower part are modeled after Cheomseongdae to represent the past, the central observatory represents present science and technology, and the cone-shaped upper part reaching toward the future expresses the will to leap forward.
Even after the expo closed, it remained a symbol of Daejeon, and recently, with the creation of a media facade, a musical fountain, and Mulbit Square, it has been reborn as a splendid night view attraction. During the day, you can view downtown Daejeon from the observatory, and at night, you can enjoy the media facade performance harmonized with the musical fountain and capture the beautiful night view of the Tower of Great Light (Hanbit Tower) reflected in Mulbit Square in photos.
