Originating from 'Hanbat', the old name of Daejeon, Hanbat Arboretum is the nation's largest man-made urban arboretum located between the Government Complex-Daejeon and Expo Park. Built on idle land that was the site of the Taejon Expo 93, the West Garden opened first in 2005, followed by the East Garden and the Tropical Botanical Garden in turn. Centered around the Expo Citizen Plaza, it is divided into the West Garden, East Garden, and Tropical Botanical Garden.
In the West Garden, you can fully enjoy phytoncide along the lush forest paths and the Red Clay Path. The East Garden features various themed gardens such as a floor fountain, a large artificial lake, a magnolia garden, and a rose garden, making it great for family outings. If you climb the rock garden hill, the modern scenery of Gapcheon and Daejeon comes into view at a glance.
In the Tropical Botanical Garden, which includes the nation's first mangrove garden, you can encounter exotic plants such as baobab trees and bananas.
