Daegu Hyangchon Cultural Center is a complex cultural space located in the building of Seonnam Commercial Bank, which was Daegu's first general bank in 1912. It vividly recreates the history and culture of Hyangchon-dong, which was Daegu's greatest downtown area and a hideout for refugee artists from the Japanese colonial period to the Korean War. You can follow the footsteps of contemporary artists such as painter Lee Jung-seob, poet Ku Sang, and Yu Chi-hwan, as well as the street scenes, tearooms, and bars where romance and artistic spirit breathed in the 1950s.
In particular, Korea's first classical music appreciation room, 'Nokhyang', is restored on the first basement floor, so you can feel the emotion of the artists of that time who soothed the sorrows of war while listening to Bach's music. The Daegu Literature Museum, which commemorates the history of Daegu literature, and various experience spaces are also operated together, allowing you to deeply experience the culture and arts of modern Daegu.
