Daegu Yangnyeongsi Museum of Oriental Medicine was established to preserve and inherit the long history of Yangnyeongsi, which opened in the 9th year of King Hyojong of Joseon (1658). Yangnyeongsi, which efficiently collected medicinal herbs for royal tributes and exports, grew into a national hub for the distribution of oriental medicine, and was also used as a base for raising funds and communicating for the independence movement during the Japanese colonial period. The historical background where the poet Yi Yuksa inspired national spirit with an anecdote related to Yangnyeongsi is also interesting.
Currently, the museum offers exhibitions where visitors can see the origins of Yangnyeongsi and Yakjeon Alley, which have a history of over 350 years, at a glance, and provides various experience programs such as oriental medicine foot baths and making oriental medicine soap, offering visitors a special experience.
