Gyuam Jaongil Street in Gyuam Village, Buyeo, Chungcheongnam-do, is a place where the old ferry commercial district, which had declined after the opening of Baekjegyo Bridge, has been reborn as a cultural street with a retro vibe. The name Jaon, meaning 'warming itself up', originated from the legend of Jaondae where a rock became warm when King Uija of Baekje offered Buddhist prayers. Starting with 'Chaekbang Segan', which revived an 80-year-old tobacco shop, old breweries, hanok, and empty commercial spaces have been transformed into cafes, restaurants, and workshops, regaining a warm vitality.
It is a good place to enjoy diverse crafts and local foods amidst vintage alleyway sceneries, and to climb up to Subukjeong Pavilion overlooking the Baengmagang River to appreciate the tranquil scenery.
