Haewoojae (Mr. Toilet House) is the world's only toilet-shaped museum, meaning 'a house to relieve one's concerns'. It was built by tearing down the home of Sim Jae-deok, the former mayor of Suwon and the first president of the World Toilet Association, and was donated to Suwon City after his death to become a public museum.
At the observatory opposite the building, you can view its unique toilet-shaped exterior, and in the indoor exhibition hall, you can see the history of toilets around the world, starting from ancient wiping tools. In the Yaoe Hwajangsilmunhwa Park, toilet models from different eras, such as traditional tongsi (pigsty toilets) and ddongjanggun (feces carriers), are recreated.
