Incheon Sorae Marsh Ecological Park is a place that holds a painful history, starting as a large-scale Salt Farm created during the Japanese colonial period for the exploitation of salt. It was the largest sun-dried salt production site in Korea in the 1970s, but after the salt farm closed, it was restored into an ecological park where mudflats, halophytes, and migratory birds harmonize, and was opened to citizens in 2009. Currently, this place is highly popular as a photo spot, with three windmills creating an exotic landscape blending with vast reed beds.
It is loved as an educational venue to observe the living mudflat ecology and experience the salt farm culture, as well as a resting space to enjoy the relaxation of nature in the city. The oldest existing wooden Salt Warehouse in Korea also remains, offering a glimpse into the traces of modern industrial heritage.
