Andong Byeongsanseowon Confucian Academy is a representative Confucian architectural structure of the Joseon period, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was established to honor the scholarship and achievements of Yu Seong-nyong, penname Seoae, and served as the center of the Yeongnam Confucian scholars, producing numerous scholars. In particular, it is evaluated as the most beautiful among Korea's seowon, situated in outstanding natural scenery harmonizing with the Nakdong River and mountains spread like a folding screen.
If you go up to Mandaeru Pavilion, the highlight of the academy, you can enjoy the spectacular view of the Nakdong River and Byeongsan unfolding like an Oriental painting between the seven-bay pillars. It is one of the seowon that was preserved without being abolished even during Heungseon Daewongun's Seowon Cheolpyeryeong, making it a place where you can feel both historical value and architectural beauty at the same time.
