Andong Chehwajeong Pavilion is a pavilion built in 1761 by Lee Min-jeok, a Jinsa (literary licentiate), to strengthen the bond of brotherhood and study with his older brother Lee Min-jeong. It takes its name from the Confucian scripture 'Classic of Poetry' and symbolizes harmony between brothers. Inside the pavilion hang a signboard written by Ryu Jeong-won, the teacher of Sadoseja, and another signboard said to feature the calligraphy of Kim Hong-do, adding historical and artistic depth.
In the front yard, a square pond with three artificial islands blends in to create a picture-like landscape, and when the lotus flowers and crape myrtles are in full bloom in summer, it is a great place to fully enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of a Joseon scholar's garden.
