Located in the sea south of Tongyeong, Yeonhwado Island is an island resembling a lotus flower blooming on the sea, and is a Buddhist holy site where the legends of Yeon Hwa-do-sa and Samyeongdaesa from the Joseon Dynasty are handed down. When you climb Yeonhwabong Peak, you can meet Bodeogam Hermitage with its unique architectural beauty and the Haesugwaneumsang (Seawater Goddess of Mercy Statue), which leads to a thrilling suspension bridge connecting the magnificent Yeonhwasa Temple and the sea cliff gorge. In particular, Yongmeori Coast, one of the Eight Scenic Views of Tongyeong, creates a spectacle where the golden sunset dyes the strange rocks and bizarre stones at dusk.
Along with the beautiful hydrangea path that fully blooms in summer, you can explore on foot to Udo Island via Yeonugyo Bridge, making it an attractive island trekking attraction.
