Buyeo Muryangsa Temple is a thousand-year-old temple founded during the Unified Silla period, and a deeply historic place where Saengyuksin Kim Siseup spent his final years and entered nirvana. Upon entering the temple grounds, the treasure Geungnakjeon Hall, which has a unique structure of appearing as two stories on the outside but being one open space on the inside, immediately catches the eye. In front of Geungnakjeon Hall, an early Goryeo five-story stone pagoda and stone lantern, which harmoniously inherited Baekje and Silla styles, stand side by side, proving the long history of Muryangsa.
Also, the stupa enshrining Kim Siseup's sarira and his portrait remain, allowing visitors to honor his life and thoughts. Surrounded by a dense forest, it is a place where you can feel the tranquil atmosphere of a mountain temple and its historical meaning together.
