Perched on a cliff facing the blue sea, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is considered one of the most beautiful temples in the country. Founded in 1376 during the Goryeo dynasty by Naong, the temple draws endless streams of visitors due to the legend that anyone who prays sincerely will have at least one wish come true. After passing the forest path lined with the Sibijisinsang (Twelve Zodiac Animal Statues) and the 108 Longevity Stairs, travelers are welcomed by the Main Hall (Daeungjeon) and the Haesu Gwaneum Daebul (Seawater Great Avalokiteshvara Buddha), which are the first to greet the majestic sunrise of the East Sea.
Experience the tranquil atmosphere of the temple while listening to the sound of the waves.
